The Lakes Orthotics is nestled in the picturesque village of Lound, North Nottinghamshire, and surrounded by the beautiful Idle Valley Nature Reserve. The practice was established by Jo Lucas, a highly experienced Orthotist who has worked in hospitals from Luton to Grimsby, and everywhere in between!

What is ‘Orthotics’?
Orthotics is a specialist field of medicine that focuses on the design, production and use of orthoses in order to treat any biomechanical dysfunction of the body. Orthoses are designed to be fitted to an individual to provide any of the following:
- Correct or prevent deformities
- Reduce pain and inflammation
- Stabilise the joints
- Improve mobility or performance
- Reduce risk of injury
Orthoses come in many different shapes and sizes and are designed to treat many different medical conditions. Here at The Lakes Orthotics we use a wide variety of orthoses and these can be off the shelf, semi-bespoke, or completely custom made for an individual.
Who and what do we treat at The Lakes Orthotics?
Do you suffer from persistent pain in your feet, knees or back? Or perhaps you are a sports person and a medical condition is affecting your performance?
We can treat the symptoms associated with a wide range of conditions such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, cerebral palsy, post polio syndrome and MS. We also provide a full paediatric service and following a full biomechanical assessment can supply AFOs, Lycra garments, stability footwear and insoles.
If you are already an NHS patient we can supply extra orthoses to ‘top up’ your NHS entitlement. Having extra orthoses can not only be more convenient but will also ultimately extend the life of your devices.
